Description
This is the sleeve armour for Crescent Cosplay's Aqua outfit that I started a while ago, and completed with her help while she was visiting.
- Once the foam mock-up was done, we traced the templates onto leather using a silver gel pen, then cut out and painted the pieces.
- The top piece is rounded, so the outer ring had a gap which I stitched closed to make the shape.
For the golden inner piece I wet-moulded them over a tennis ball to form them into little bowls.
- The parts are joined with rivets onto a piece of climbing strap I had leftover from my TR Ice-climbing outfit, with a safety pin stitched into the leather top and bottom to attach to her sleeves.
This method of joining the pieces to a hidden strap instead of directly onto each other is called Floating Articulation, it allows the sections to move much more freely, which helps a lot with comfort and range of motion.
I think they look very pretty, and i'm glad I'll now be able to hug her in costume without fear of breaking her armour.
Special thanks to for the templates I used to make these. Saved a lot of time and they came out beautifully.
